Looking west from the small village of Siurana we can see the Montsant Natural Park. Last Wednesday 16th of October 2024, I went to this very special spot with my wife Georgina, in order to capture some images of the comet C/2023 A3. The day had been cloudy, but we looked at the forecast that announced partially cloudy weather at night. The session was pretty cloudy and I was not able to get enough good frames to be stacked in a deeper image… by the way I was able to get several images with a less cloudy sky and the comet. The result is a blended image of the comet and the landscape, both captured with my Sony A7s mod and the Samyang 135mm at f/2.0.

The small village on the left of the image is La Morera de Montsant. Its street lights have been recently changed in order to preserve the dark sky quality of the region, recognized with the label of “Muntanyes de Prades i Serra de Montsant Starlight Tourism Destination”. It’s the same area where we have our home and our scientific outreach project, Parc Astronòmic Muntanyes de Prades.

Thanks for your time on this website.
