The second night of the 2026 Parc Astronòmic Muntanyes de Prades Phototrip Namibia (our 5th trip here) brought us another unforgettable experience beneath one of the darkest skies on Earth. I wandered around Tivoli Astrofarm in search of the perfect location to capture the magnificent winter Milky Way arch of the Southern Hemisphere. Near the observatories, I came across this solitary tree, which provided a simple yet striking foreground and completed the composition.
Under the pristine skies of the Kalahari Desert, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, the spectacular Eta Carinae Nebula, and the brilliant Galactic Centre of the Milky Way dominated the horizon. The air was exceptionally transparent, allowing countless stars, dark dust lanes, and rich nebulae to stand out in breathtaking detail.
Standing alone in complete silence beneath this sky is a humbling reminder of our place in the Universe. Another memory that will stay with me for a lifetime.
