What a great night. Aurora borealis visible with the naked eye from my home, in Prades, as low as 41ºN (south of Catalonia, north east of Spain).

The wide field image shows the SAR (Stable Auroral Red arc) as well as a greenish aurora at the lower part of the image. Pillars of aurora all around the horizon that climbed as high as the Polaris star.

A massive solar storm made the show for us tonight (10th of May 2024) creating a natural spectacle that we’ll not forget.

I climbed up to Tossal de la Baltasana, 1.203 meters above sea level, to share the night with a good friend, Júlia Plaza. We were overwhelmed by the natural aurora show.

This winter I’ve had the privilege to travel to Norway to see the auroras. I can now confirm that this time today is not that far from what we saw last November 2023.
