The night of the 28th of June 2025 I climbed up to the Serra Major de Montsant, a mountain range located some 100km south from Barcelona, very close to my home village, Prades. My goal was to capture the arch of the Milky Way above the Mare de Déu del Montsant Hermitage. The Moon had already set (9%) when I started capturing a series of 15 second exposure vertical images (24) to compose this panorama. In the image we can see the Barcelona city lights, also the Earth’s high atmosphere airglow as a faint greenish color on the darkest part of this area, recognized as a Starlight protected region “Muntanyes de Prades Prades i Serra de Montsant”. The darkness reached a sky brightness of 21.4 mag/arcesc2. The arch of the Milky Way shows several emission nebulae that were captured by the use of an IR modded old Sony A7S camera.

Thanks for your time on this website.
